Japan Provides Over $4 million for Renewable Energy and Accountability Projects

Phnom Penh: Japan has provided more than 4 million US dollars for the development of environmental friendly renewable energy projects in rural areas and the project to strengthen transparency and accountability in local administrations through citizen participation.

The announcement was made at the Office of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

Of the more than $4 million, $1.7 million will be spent on renewable energy projects and $ 2.6 million will be given to projects to strengthen transparency and accountability in local administrations through citizen participation.

Both projects are implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Cambodia.
